Group Rides
These are the SWCC’s sanctioned group rides.
Most club rides have a designated ride leader, and if you are new, you are strongly encouraged to introduce yourself to the ride leader. The club allows up to 3 trial group rides before requiring new members to purchase a membership.
In choosing to ride with the SWCC, it is expected that you will adhere to the SWCC Ride Etiquette.

Ride Leaders
South West Cycle Club has designated ride leaders for each sanctioned group ride.
The role of the ride leader is to support and welcome new riders and assist with adherence to the club’s endorsed SWCC Ride Etiquette and, therefore, the safety and enjoyment of all participating in SWCC rides.
The SWCC endorses measures designed to improve the safety of cyclists. The following article Daytime Rear Lighting for Cyclists, highlights the importance of using rear lights during the day and also has links that show video clips of lights being used in overcast and bright conditions. Also, see the following articles: Cycling Safety & Personal Values and How to deal with road rage.
The club also has endorsed Guidelines for Juniors taking part in SWCC Group Rides.
The club holds regular ride leader workshops to assist leaders in ironing out any rides issues and gaining consensus on course changes and ride guidelines. More volunteers are always needed to take on the role of ride leader; please speak to a committee member if you are interested in helping out. Ride leaders are recognised for their assistance with a free coffee if they lead a group on Saturdays.
